1. The US FDA authorized four mint-flavored vape products to pass PMTA review for the first time

On June 21, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued marketing authorization orders to four mint-flavored vape products from NJOY, two of which are NJOY ACE products, which are pods used with previously authorized electronic atomizers; the other two NJOY DAILY products are disposable vapes. This authorization is the first time that the FDA has approved non-tobacco flavored vape products.

2. The first trial of the first case of selling counterfeit vapes in Neijiang, China

Recently, the Weiyuan County Court of Neijiang City concluded a case of producing and selling counterfeit products in accordance with the law. The defendant Cao was sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for one year and six months, and fined RMB 30,000. It is reported that this is the first case in Neijiang where a person was sentenced for selling counterfeit vapes.

5. Kazakhstan’s vape ban officially takes effect

On June 20, local time, a law prohibiting the import, production, and sale of vape in Kazakhstan officially took effect. However, the bill does not set penalties for people who use vape.

Illegal sales of vape will be fined up to 738,400 tenges (about 11,600 yuan), or community service of fewer than 200 hours, or up to 50 days in prison; illegal import and production of vape will face a fine of up to 7.3 million tenges (about 115,000 yuan), or community service of less than 600 hours, or up to 2 years in prison.
